How is LOADEST related to ESTIMATOR and LOADEST2?
• ESTIMATOR and LOADEST2 are separate software packages that were previously used within the U.S. Geological Survey for load estimation. In 2001, an effort was undertaken to merge these two software packages into a single, publically-available package. The result of this effort is LOADEST, a software package that includes all of the features of its predecessors. Additional features, such as the ability to develop user-defined models and data variables, have also been developed. Additional information is available here ( PDF (30KB)). Of the three software packages, LOADEST is the only package that is fully documented and supported by the USGS. Use of ESTIMATOR and LOADEST2 by USGS personnel should be discontinued.
