I have been living in the Philippines (Iloilo City) for the past six years. It’s a smaller city but still has most of the advantages of a bigger one like plenty of nice resturants, modern shopping malls and good quality medical care. There are many nice beaches and inland resorts to choose from here that are relatively cheap but nice. Housing costs go by the same principle here as stateside. Location, Location and location being most important. If your looking for a nice house or apartment in a gated subdivision here it will cost betn P10,000 to P30,000 per month plus utils. My average utils are: Electric with aircon P6,000. CATV P550 DSL P999 Local phone P800 Cooking gas P650 Bottled drinking water P 800 City water P700. Since furnished apartments are rare and expensive here you might want to consider Pensione Houses. What they are is a one room furnished place with pritate bath, ac and hot water shower with catv.
