How is learning assessed in an online class?
(Back to Top) Most assessments will take place online. The assessment may be a report on a case study, an online exam, or a group project that is submitted online. Quizzes and exams are handled through the Blackboard course management system. These can consist of short problems, essay questions or cases to respond to, or multiple choice items. An exam will usually be posted to Blackboard for several days; students can complete the exam when they choose. However, there may be a time limit placed on the exam; once begun the student will have to complete the exam within that time limit (just like an exam in a traditional classroom setting). Once completed, the exam is uploaded to Blackboard to be graded. The professor will then post the grade along with any comments. Students will be able to access only their own grades and comments.
