First, test cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triglycerides using new, unused test strips. Then use the following formula to calculate: LDL Cholesterol = Total Cholesterol – HDL – (Triglycerides ÷ 5) (NOTE: Triglyceride testing requires fasting for 9 hours.

Then use the following formula to calculate your estimated LDL cholesterol: Estimated LDL Cholesterol = Total Cholesterol – HDL Cholesterol – (Triglycerides 2.18) NOTE: To calculate your estimated LDL cholesterol, you must fast for 9 hours prior to testing triglycerides.
