How is LADA managed?
Currently, there is little evidence regarding the best way to treat people with LADA. However, the treatment and management of LADA should focus on controlling blood sugars and minimising hyperglycaemia and preventing the onset of any complications relating to diabetes. Insulin therapy can be used to treat people with LADA as it preserves the beta cell function which is responsible for the bodies own natural supply of insulin. Tablets can also be used such as metformin and thiazolidinediones. More research into the treatment of people with LADA is required, so health professionals can give advice based on clinical evidence.
