How is Krakatoa different from search engines like Yahoo, Excite, etc.?
These search engines crawl the Web and index data about sites as well as the sites themselves. Although these engines are getting better at trying to classify data, it is still possible – even likely – for a single keyword search to produce zero or millions of hits. In contrast, Krakatoa technology provides a guided search, where users successively narrow the items of interest by choosing from categories and applying feature selectors – typically from catalogs or high value corporate data.
