The JMF 1.0 API concentrated on playback of media, and reference implementations were released on Windows and Solaris platforms. The JMF 1.1 API still concentrates on the playback of media, but added new reference implementations of JMF written entirely in the Java programming language, along with the Windows and Solaris versions.
