How is japan different from china and india responding western imperialism?

japan never had to respond to western imperialism because it never had any natural resources or anything that the western countries could use, that is why they left them alone. however, after world war 2 japan has largely been the 51st state for america, serving as a military base. japan has basically been very obedient of its american masters for the past 50yrs. china, a country rich in natural resources, and rich and most other ways. think of imperialism as robbing houses. in this case, china would be like bill gates house, and japan was like kato kaelins house. china tried to resist imperialism, but wasnt militarily ready. the west just hit them by surprise, because up until the 1700s, europe was very technologically primitive, and very poor compared to asia. even if you look at europes natural resources today, they are very limited. so i dont think anyone was expecting a well planned attack from them. meanwhile, china and india had been the most powerful countries for thousands of years, and perhaps they were arrogant to think that no one could challenge their hegemony.

The difference among India, China and Japan (don’t forget Vietnam) is very small. All the nations in Asia, Africa and South America are still fighting against “Western Imperialism.
