Galaxies are large systems of stars and interstellar matter containing several million to trillion stars. It contains masses between several trillion times that of our sun. Galaxies are separated by millions of light years distance. There are several types of galaxies which were formed million is years ago. Besides stars, they consist of various types of star clusters and nebulae. Some of the types are Spiral; the Milky Way Galaxy is a spiral galaxy. Earth comes under the Milky Way galaxy too. Lenticular is another type, these are simply spiral galaxies with ellipsoidal shape. Irregular Galaxies; are formed due to distortion by the gravitation of their neighbors.
