How is Industry Canada’s (IC) contribution to the FSDS monitored?
• T he Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development (CESD) shall monitor and report to Parliament on the extent to which departments have contributed to meeting the targets set out in the FSDS and have met the objectives, and implemented the plans, set out in their own SD strategies. The CESD is part of the Office of the Auditor General of Canada and was established by an amendment to the Auditor General Act in 1995. The CESD’s findings are released in the annual Report of the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development. • Performance-based contracts shall include provisions for meeting the applicable targets referred to in the FSDS and the Departmental Sustainable Development Strategies.
