HUMIS is an application whereas a CMS platform such as Zope/Plone, Joomla, or Drupal is a framework. HUMIS has its own framework that can be extended but it’s built from the ground up to be an information management system for a university. The database that is HUMIS is the foundation of the information presented by the display client that drives the web presentation layer.
