First, Hep C is NOT an STD. It is a blood borne virus that is only transmittable through blood. It is NOT passed through semen, saliva, sweat, tears, vaginal secretions, or any other bodily fluids. The only way to contract Hep C is to come in DIRECT contact with an infected person’s blood. You cannot contract Hepatitis C by sex alone. There must be blood involved to have any risk of contracting it. Even then, it is a very small percentage. I believe the transmission rate between monogamous couples is around 1-3%. If you are in an exclusive relationship with someone infected with Hep C, they don’t even recommend the use of condoms. That is how hard it is to get Hep C through sex.
