How is Hepatitis B contracted?
Hepatitis B is primarily a sexually-transmitted disease, although it is also transmitted in blood. Intravenous drug users as a group are at high risk of catching this disease. Prior to the routine vaccination of health care workers, physicians and nurses used to be at high risk of contracting hepatitis B. Another common mode of transmission is from an infected pregnant women to her fetus.
