How is Hedgeable different from a discount brokerage firm such as TD Ameritrade, E*Trade, or Scottrade?
We are not a brokerage firm or a broker-dealer. We are a Registered Investment Advisor. When you open an account with Hedgeable, you are hiring us as your Investment Manager and providing us with discretionary control to input buy/sell orders to our broker-dealer on your behalf (i.e. we will be managing your account per the investment strategies and goals you select on sign-up). You cannot buy and sell securities through our platform when you open an account with us. Brokerage firms such as TD and E*Trade may offer fee based advisory services, but that is not their primary business. They make money when you execute trades through them as a broker-dealer and via interest on any cash held in your account.
