How is gender in sport potrayed by the media world over?
I think the media portrays gender in sport the way gender in sport is. Women athletics aren’t as popular and media gives the pubic what it wants. The public demands more mens sports. I disagree with answerers that say women are just as powerful as men, they are not. Women have other factors that make them better at other things. Women can withstand pain better than men, but that is a defensive ability. I feel the public is more attracted to offense and therefore, men with more power are the more popular. It would be interesting to see more co-ed sports. In the US I’d like to see american rules football that requires 5 women and 6 men and see how coaches deal with that requirement. Would they put women on the line, in the back field. How would women match up with men, how would one team adjust to another team that has women in different positions. Another interesting requirement would be that a woman must touch the ball before a score is made. Would all the teams put a woman as center?
