FutureGen is the first facility to integrate advanced technologies for coal gasification, electricity production, emissions control, CO2 capture and permanent storage, and hydrogen production at a commercial scale. In addition to power production, which is the primary objective of the Wabash River and Tampa Electric plants, research and development will play an important role in of the operations plan for FutureGen.
