Amphenol Antel calculates the front-to-back measurement as an average +/- 30° from -180°. Please see the illustration below as an example. It is important to note that not all antenna manufacturer’s calculate front-to-back in this way. We feel an average value provides a better understanding of how the antenna performs than a single value at -180°. The shaded area in the pattern at left represents the cone that is used to calculate the average front-to-back ratio of Amphenol Antel’s antennas. As you can see from the illustration, the average value provides a much better respresentation of the antenna performance.
