How is fluid pressure measured?
We live in an “ocean of air”. Air has weight. Air pressure is caused by the movement of the particles that make up the air. You don’t notice the weight of the air pressing on your body because the pressure inside your body is the same as the pressure outside. B) Air pressure changes with altitude. The higher you go, the lower the air pressure? Why? There are fewer air particles. C) Barometers measure air pressure. The aneroid barometer is a small metal box that has had the air partially removed. It has a flexible metal lid that bends in or out as the atmospheric pressure changes. Lid movement is shown on a scale by a mechanical spring & lever system. D) When you fly, the cabin must be pressurized because of the change in elevation. Remember the higher you go, the less pressure there is. The airlines begins pressurizing the plane while still on the ground. They do so as soon as the doors are shut. The pressure inside the cabin is the same as the pressure on the earth’s surface. You noti
