How Is Facelift Surgery Performed?
The technique chosen for the surgery depends on your features and desired results. There are many variations of the facelift procedure. However, the incision is typically hidden in the natural contour of your ear, and then extends around your earlobe and back into the hairline. Following the surgery the incisions are easily concealed by your hair and by the facial hair shadow line. Working through these incisions, the facial skin is freed from the underlying tissues, then pulled upward and back. The excess skin is then removed. The deeper tissues are also repositioned to restore a more youthful contour to your face. If necessary an incision under the chin allows removal of fatty tissue in the area and the smoothing of the cord-like structures of the underlying muscles in the neck.
