How is Eyelid Surgery done?
Eyelid Surgery is performed under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation. Depending on the number of eyelids getting done, Eyelid Surgery may take any where from 2 – 4 hours. An incision is made below the eyelashes in lower lid and along the creases of upper eyelid by the surgeon. These incisions may extend to the outer corner of the eyes. The skin of the eyelid from the underlying fat and muscle is dissected and separated, remove excessive fat and trim away excessive sagging skin and tighten the eye muscle. The incision is then closed with very fine sutures so that it results in minimal scarring after Eyelid Surgery. A trans-conjunctival approach for Eyelid Surgery or Blepharoplasty may be used so that no external incision needs to be made.
