How is Experience Corps different from other tutoring programs?
Experience Corps specifically recruits adults 55 years and older to be mentors and tutors to disadvantaged youth. We believe that by making full use of the life experience of our members, children, schools, and communities benefit. Our members serve in teams (our goal is to place 10-15 members per school) and often dedicate a significant number of hours per week. Our members are trusted and praised by principals and teachers for their consistency and flexibility. Furthermore, Experience Corps staff provide day-to-day on-site support, ongoing training, and monthly team meetings.
