How is ELPOP different from UPOP (the Undergraduate Practice Opportunities Program)?

A. UPOP is a co-curricular program of training and personalized coaching designed for MIT sophomores to prepare them for success in the workplace. Normally UPOP is a prerequisite for ELPOP although other pathways to ELPOP are available by permission of the instructor. ELPOP is a roughly two year program for Juniors and Seniors to strengthen their team, project engineering and management, and leadership skills to prepare them for a career in engineering leadership. ELPOP students are required to take selected short subjects, have engineering practice experiences, and enroll in two pass/fail subjects, each consisting of four evening workshops.
