HOW IS ELIGIBILITY FOR A VA PENSION DETERMINED?
To be eligible for a VA pension a veteran must satisfy the following criteria: · Be age 65 or older, or, if under 65, permanently and totally disabled; · Have a disability not resulting from the veteran’s own willful misconduct; · Have insufficient assets (or combined assets with his/her spouse) to cover the veteran’s expenses for his or her lifetime; and · Have countable income less than the maximum applicable annual pension rate (the permissible family income limit).
