How is election administration organized?
Election Commission of India (ECI) is the apex body that conducts all central and state level elections in India. ECI is headed by a Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and two Election Commissioners. They are in-charge of the overall election administration. At the state level and below, following are the relevant ECI officials: • Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of a State/Union Territory is authorized to supervise the election work in the State/Union Territory subject to the overall superintendence, direction and control of the Election Commission.
