The bombing on Hiroshima was definitively a war crime. Innocent civilians going about their daily lives were incinerated instantly (those were the lucky ones). Those that survived the initial blast were covered in terrible burns, some to the point of flesh melting off the bone if touched. They breathed in radiation clouds, and walked in an area that to this day has traces of radioactivity. The people couldn’t be moved or treated as no one knew what to do in a situation where an atomic bomb was used; and the lack of Japanese supplies made responding to this disaster in any meaningful way impossible. Some even committed suicide due to these bombings. The people should never have been involved. The Japanese government was the entity not backing down. The people were being used and abused by their authoritarian government and did not deserved to be vaporized, burnt, irradiated, or damaged in any way by an atomic weapon or any weapon by a foreign country.
