How is DNA testing used for cases of unidentified remains?
DNA testing can be used to identify unknown remains by comparing the DNA obtained from bone or tissue samples from the remains to an inferred reference from the missing person (such as a toothbrush) or to a living relative. In addition to determining parent/child relationship, BRT is also able to perform grandparent/child, sibling, and half sibling relationship testing for the identification of unknown remains.
