How is designing a lamp different than, say, designing a watch?

0

I find more similarities in designing a watch and a lighting fixture because in both you meet restrictions which you have to overcome to arrive at your design solutions, be it the watch’s movement or the lamp’s electrical system. Secondly, the precision in designing these pieces will be mutual. However, one important difference would be the quantity of detail that a watch might have in such a small scale. What current design trends excite you at the moment? I would say sustainable trends, where designs are environmentally-conscious projects that meet with social, economic and ecological values and concerns. That’s why I made a chandelier out of egg cartons. What do you hope to see fall out of fashion soon? Soulless projects which don’t try to explore design’s heart and essence.
