How is data warehousing related to ERP?
Building a data warehouse that permits detailed analysis such as Data mining can be an arduous task in many corporations. For any meaningful analysis using OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing) (that includes data mining), the size of data warehouse would be huge. ERP software, once in place automatically captures transactional data of significantly large size. In many corporations ERP implementation provides a starting infrastructure for building up their corporate data warehouse. While some ERP vendors provide full data warehouse, some provide enough support for creating a data warehouse using ERP data.
