How is Dahlgren unique among medical libraries?
Dahlgren has a great reputation and history for student-based service. That’s not true everywhere. At Georgetown, students are at the library literally around the clock, whether they are using our electronic resources or our physical space. Collaboration is really important in medical school, and a lot of that work happens here at the library. What’s new at the library these days? A couple of months before Proctor Harvey’s death [Ed.’s Note: Harvey died in September after a distinguished career at GUMC], we received his personal library collection. He wanted it all to be housed at Dahlgren. We got 60 boxes of books, photos, plaques, and many other things that we are still sorting through. We’re actually trying to match the books of his that we got to the books in the portrait of him outside the Integrated Learning Center.
