How is CORALadvantage better than other calcium supplements?
A. Most calcium supplements use synthetic calcium carbonate, a poorly absorbed form of calcium, and they have few if any of the support nutrients required. Absorption rates in older adults are often as low as 3%. Tests done in Japan have shown that marine coral is better absorbed than calcium carbonate. One study used 5 different measurements to verify marine coral calcium is better than the most widely used calcium supplement. In a study completed at the Higashi Sapporo Hospital in Japan by Dr. K. Ishitani et al., calcium absorption from coral powder and calcium carbonate was comparatively assessed, and found calcium of coral origin better absorbed from the intestine than calcium of calcium carbonate origin on the average (J. Nutr. Sci. Vitaminol, 1999, 45, 509-517). Also, in an animal study by Prof. Kazuharu Suzuki et al. presented at the Japan Nutrition and Food Society in 1997, calcium from coral powder was found better absorbed than calcium from milk, cow bones, and calcium carbon
