How is COBRA provided?

GSA, the Plan Administrator, is notified of a qualifying event within 30 days and you are mailed out a COBRA packet to your Home of Record. COBRA will be offered to each of the qualified dependents. Each qualified dependent has independent election rights and has 60 days from the date of notification to elect continuation of coverage. It is imperative that you make your elections and send them back to GSA within this 60 day period. No exceptions will be allowed. If a qualified dependent does not elect continuation coverage within this election period, then rights to continue coverage insurance end. Covered employees may elect COBRA continuation coverage on behalf of their spouses, and parents may elect COBRA continuation coverage on behalf of their children.
