How is clothing retail different than a church bookstore?
Peters: There’s a greater mission involved with the bookstore. We’re there to evangelize; we’re there to help people in their walk with Christ. In clothing retail it’s much more about the bottom dollar, fashion and that whole thing. Working the retail aspect of that management style has helped me bring a lot of ideas, processes and functions into the ministry. TCB: What helpful advice were you given when you were new to the church bookstore? Peters: The best advice I received is that everyone is human. It’s easy to have heavenly expectations of working in the church, but we’re all sinners and fully dependent on God’s grace.
