How is Christian micro-enterprise development different?
Micro-finance and MED had their beginnings more than 20 years ago and are widely used by organizations that are not Christian. For example, many have heard of the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh, whose founder, Mohammed Yunus, won the 2006 Nobel Prize. Christian MED includes an emphasis on spiritual transformation in addition to economic/physical transformation. In addition to being a witness to non-believers, it also can result in improved conditions in churches in countries where economic conditions are very poor.
