How is caseflow managed in rural courts?
Rural courts are not as overcrowded as urban courts and allow for easier caseflow management. This is not true when the rural courts are understaffed. When the rural courts are short a judge or deputy clerk, the caseload can be overwhelming for a very small staff. When there are only one or two judges, the calendar is not as flexible as courts with more judges. Rural courts encounter the same caseflow management problems as urban courts.
