How is BCBSMA using taxonomy code in the NPI crosswalk?

0

We are using taxonomy codes to support our NPI crosswalk for claims for a small number of providers. Generally, these providers elected to obtain only one NPI for their business. However, in order to administer their contracts correctly, we need to maintain multiple legacy numbers for internal processing purposes. The taxonomy code the provider submits is used to help us select the correct legacy number from our NPI crosswalk. We estimate we will require specifically designated taxonomy codes from fewer than 200 providers.
