How is BarterWorks funded?

0

BarterWorks is a non-profit organization. Membership (the initial membership fee is $30 cash and the annual renewal fee of $20 Barter) fees go towards the cash costs incurred by the System: phone line, printing of materials, advertising, photocopying, mailing, etc. So far all money has come from membership fees and generous support provided by The Working Centre and the Waterloo Public Interest Research Group. No one has received a cash income for setting up or administering the System. There is a Barter Dollar charge for advertising and a service fee of $3.00 Barter Dollars every 2 months. These Barter Dollars go from users’ accounts to an Administration Account which is used to purchase supplies and pay staff, in Barter Dollars, for performing administrative tasks, graphic design, organizing BarterWorks Fairs, and other tasks. If you are interested in working for the System in some way, call the BarterWorks Line 749-1911.
