How is backdated child tax credits paid?

They will only backdate three months for certain reasons.E.g you started work or had a child three months ago or you have been entitled for three months but now you are applying.Otherwise they go from the date the form is received. If you think three month back dating applies you need to let them know because they wont do it automatically.Backdating lump sums are normally spread over the year but i have seen them paid out in a lump sum too but not often.9/10 they spread it out.
