How is Arizona Trails for Children different from other hiking books?
There are two things that distinguish this book from other hiking books. While there are other books for hiking with children in circulation, this book covers the entire state, including both urban and rural areas. This allows families to plan a vacation with hiking in a region away from their home without first visiting the locale to learn about what is appropriate or available for their use. Some of the hiking books for children are very general and do not give specific trails but rather general tips on hiking. The trails in this book are specifically chosen for children. Most children do not enjoy hiking sixteen miles both ways, uphill, for a good view so we have chosen trails with some special feature that will appeal to children. The book also introduces children to the history of the state through storytelling. Many of the chapters have a short story that features a personality unique to that region of Arizona.
