How is Aquatic Physical Therapy different from Traditional Physical Therapy?
Aquatic physical therapy is Physical Therapy that is performed in a specially designed therapeutic pool. The pool enables patients to improve range of motion, strength and pain symptoms while enjoying the benefits of water such as buoyancy, gentle resistance and warmth. Our pool meets all standards shown to be effective by The Arthritis Foundation for the management of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. The water is heated to 93 degrees Fahernheit in order to provide a comfortable therapy environment and to allow for muscle relaxation. One unique aspect of our pool is that we offer an underwater hydraulic treadmill. For those patients who believe that they will never be able to walk on a treadmill, we have a great option in our pool. One of the greatest benefits of exercising in water is the ability to decrease forces on painful joints. Our pool has been designed with patient safety and access as a top priority.
