How is anaerobic respiration different?
Glycolosis takes glucose and turns it into pyruvate, NADH, ATP and water. Here both forms of cellular respiration are the same. Pyruvate contains energy that can be turned into ATP but the process needs oxygen to be done efficiently. So, if you are using aerobic resipiration you will continue on to the Kreb’s cycle and get a total of 38 ATP per glucose. If you are using anaerobic respiration you will have to rely on fermentation and will only get 2 ATP per glucose.
