How is an STD test performed?

The only tests I know they perform with blood is for HIV and Syphilis. They also take blood (depending on the doctor) to test to see if you have hsv-1 and hsv-2. Chlamydia and Gonorrhea tests are usually performed with a urine or swab test from the tip of your penis. The blood tests they do for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are just to see if you ever have been infected with the disease, not if you are actively infected. I would seriously call your doctor and ask them about the testing they performed and how it was done. I made sure I knew exactly what my doctor was testing me for in Nov.07 and he should have been more forthcoming with the information to you. If need be, as in your doctor didn’t preform the tests you requested, either request them again from him or go see another doctor and/or Planned Parenthood for further testing.
