How is an impact crater made on mars?
In a similar way to how an impact crater is made on the moon where there is no atmosphere. The craters would be evident for much longer because they would not be eroded for a long time. I once heard that the surface of Mars is continuously renewed every billion years or so by some cataclysmic plate-tectonic event, so I guess that everything would start from afresh following this.
