How is an HMO different from the Indemnity Plan (CIGNA)?
The HMOs do not have a $350 deductible. The HMOs have either no co-pay or a co-pay (this varies by each HMO) as opposed to the Indemnity Plan, which has a 30% co-pay after the deductible is satisfied. However, the HMO requires you to choose a Primary Care Physician (PCP) who is responsible for making all referrals to specialists. When you are with the Indemnity Plan, you do not have to choose a Primary Care Physician, you may go to any doctor, and you may go to a specialist without a referral.
