How is an EMnet message different than email?

0

Although similar in appearance to email in many ways, EMnet is in reality vastly different. EMnet is a managed network and each station has limited rights to send messages. As an example, a county on the East Coast would not be given the right to send a message to a county on the West Coast, yet would have the right to send messages to neighboring county EOC’s and the state government. The arrival of an EMnet message results in an alert notification and can also trigger pager activation if the message is of a high enough urgency based upon the urgency parameters defined for remote alerting. When an EMnet message is sent, the user will receive confirmation that it was in fact delivered to the recipient station(s), and if requested, that it was actually opened by someone there.
