How is All Souls Day traditionally celebrated, and why is it important?

A lot of foods and flowers and others do overnight vigil to their dead loved ones. My family prepares foods, wine, cigarettes for the dead’s souls and we place on our altars. Some are being brought to the cemeteries and then we light candles and do novenas or prayers for them. This has been so important because we think that they are really important in our lives and just to thank them and show that we still care for them by offering them our prayers. And this happens just once a year so this should really be a celebration. We clean their tombs and offer or plant flowers. And whisper anything we want to say that we aren’t able to do while they’re alive. And so they can understand and still help us in return. Sources: Own knowledge and opinion.
