How is AlBeMet produced?
AlBeMet is made by melting aluminum and beryllium together and atomizing the mixture into a powder, where each particle contains both aluminum and beryllium. The powder is then classified and loaded into a can, which is then hot isostatically pressed (HiP’d) to nearly 100% theoretical density. The gas atomization and HiPing process gives AlBeMet total isotropy (mechanical and physical properties are the same in all directions).
