How is adopting from the foster care system different than other forms of adoption?
Families who are interested in adopting a child or sibling group from the foster care system are licensed or certified to be foster parents, as well as home studied for adoption. Lilliput does not charge adoption home study fees for foster/adoptive families who are certified with Lilliput, so costs are minimal when compared to other forms of adoption. Additionally, foster care and adoption subsidies as well as Medi-Cal insurance are available to assist with the care of the child, and may be higher for a child with special needs.
