How is AC current created?
It’s created by an AC Generator or Alternator, hence the name Alternating Current. Basically Alternating Current flows back and forth instead of one direction like in DC. The current direction follows a sinusoidal form. It changes direction many times a second, usually 60 in homes and buildings. Alternators work by having a magnet that rotates very rapidly. Every time it changes direction the change in poles causes the voltage polarity to switch, making the current direction change. And that’s how you get AC electricity.
