HOW IS A STUDENT’S INDEPENDENT READING LEVEL DETERMINED?
Students are constantly monitored through the computer system for their reading level each and every time they take an AR test. A determination of reading level is based on how well a student does on the comprehension tests. Every teacher will have a printout of his or her students’ reading levels. Each student will be made aware of their reading level. These levels will be explained to the students during library classes. WHAT CAN I DO AS A PARENT? Parents can provide a place and time to read every night. You can always ask them: “What are you reading?” Talk to them about the books they are reading. Model for them by reading the newspaper, magazines or books and let them see this. INCENTIVES Students will be awarded various incentives for their participation. WHEN WILL THE PROGRAM BEGIN AND END?
