A screw is like an inclined plane in just wrapped around on its self. It can be treated in the same way until it comes around on itself and then it depends on what you’re doing with it. Remember that the outside edge will be traveling faster than the inside upon rotating and if screwing into wood or something similar there will be friction on all surfaces.
